Formawerx is birthed from automotive design. Our entire team consists of car designers with collective experience at Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, Honda, Mazda, & the list goes on.
The fact is, we’re a bunch of self-proclaimed car geeks that happen to be artists & appreciate great design. When management gives us the go-ahead to develop an unmistakable form for the next iconic car, but leaves a meager budget for the details, it strikes a dagger into our hearts.
We love to sweat the details and if we had it our way, automotive interiors would be finished likened to a fine watch: beautifully designed, tediously crafted, and made to let the driver feel special. Our Legends 911 keypiece started as a personal project that became a coping mechanism for a bunch of designers wanting to.. well… design.
This was our chance to put the corporate drudgery aside and create an interior jewel that sings a love song to the best era of fine automobiles.
The Porsche 911 is a testament to the power of ultimate, iconic, & lasting design. The task to make anything at all worthy of this time capsule is immense. How can we create something new, while simultaneously respecting the old?
Following Porsche’s internal design philosophy was, no pun intended, key — every process, shape, & form on our Legends 911 keypiece needed a reason for existence and an authority for its placement.
Starting with the single billet monocoque construction, we wanted to symbolize, rather than literally translate, the seamless quality of the iconic roofline. No plastic handles or multi-piece construction here.
Second, the central volume not only creates a proper weight & balance but sanctifies the lesser known yet equally iconic shape of the dash. It has remained strikingly identical for four generations. Lastly, the six holes shave just the right amount of weight personifying the need for performance while also giving a respectful nod to the flat six motor.
